In each room has its own philosophy that describes the picture of the tsunami as a memorial of the great disaster that struck Aceh on 26 December 2004 ago which claimed thousands of lives.
The philosophy of the Aceh Tsunami Museum design is as follows:
1. Space of Fear
Initial access to Tsunami aisle for visitors to enter the Tsunami Museum which has a length of 30 m and height up to 19-23 m symbolizes the high tsunami waves that occurred in 2004 ago. Water flows on both sides of the museum wall, with the sounds of water and dim lights dark, damp and narrow alley, describing the feelings of fear the people of Aceh at the time of the tsunami, called space of fear.
2.Space of Memory
After walking through the 30m long Tsunami Lane, visitors enter the Memorial Hall. This room has 26 monitors as a symbol of the tsunami that hit Aceh. Each monitor displays pictures and photos of victims and disaster site that hit Aceh during the tsunami of 40 images displayed in the form of slides. These pictures and photographs seem to recall the tsunami that hit Aceh or called space of memory is difficult to forget and can be learned from the incident. Space with glass wall has a philosophy of existence in the sea (tsunami waves). When entering this room, visitors as if in the sea, symbolized by the glass walls that describe the breadth of the seabed, monitors in the room symbolized as rocks in the water, and the dim lights that is on the roof of the room symbolized as light from above the surface of water entering the seabed.
3. Space of Sorrow
Through the Memorial Hall, visitors will enter the Chamber of Blessing. The cylinder room with dim light and 30 meters height has approximately 2,000 names of tsunami koban listed on every wall. This room is philosophized as a mass grave of the tsunami and visitors entering this space are encouraged to pray for the victims according to their respective religions and beliefs. This room also describes the human relationship with his Lord (hablumminallah) which is symbolized by Allah's calligraphy written on the chimney with a light that leads up and chant verses of the Qur'an. symbolizes that every human being will surely return to God (the creator).
4. Space of Confuse
After the Prayer Well, visitors will pass the Chimney Hall (Romp Cerobong) to the Bridge of Hope. This hallway was designed with a bumpy and uneven floor as a philosophy of the confusion and hopelessness of the people of Aceh when it was hit by a tsunami in 2004, confusion about the direction of destination, the confusion of lost relatives and the confusion of loss of property and property, the hallway philosophy this is called Space of Confuse. The dark passageway that brings visitors to the natural light represents an expectation that the people of Aceh at the time were still wondering about the world's help for Aceh to help restore the physical and psychological condition of the Acehnese people who, in the wake of the disaster, experienced trauma and great loss.
5. Space of Hope
Chimney aisle brings visitors toward the Bridge of Hope (space of hope). Called the bridge of hope because through this bridge visitors can see 54 flags from 54 countries that helped Aceh after the tsunami, the number of flags equal to the number of stones arranged on the edge of the pool. In every flag and stones bearing the word 'Peace' with the language of each country as a reflection of Aceh's peace from war and conflict before the tsunami occurred. the world looks directly at the conditions of Aceh, supports and helps the peace of Aceh, and contributes to the construction (reconstruction) of Aceh after the disaster occurred.
